[Gasification] gas chromatograph acquired: advice needed

some poking this weekend determined that there are too many loose ends
on the recently acquired GC, and combined with the outdated nature of
the 5880A, it was decided the units will be far more work than return.
the 5890 generation HP units can be found known working and complete
from $1500 up, but more like 3k for a well configured one.
until then, it seems the better route is to stay with real time gas
sensors for measuring the basic stuff, and submitting samples for
analysis of the heavier HCs via friends with GC or GC/MS access.
