[Gasification] end of year thank you

not to be too mushy, but i wanted to thank all of you out in
gasification list land for continuing to create the best energy list
i've ever participated in.  the quality and diversity of discussion
here, as well as general intelligent entertainment remains the highest
i have ever seen maintained on a public list, and certainly on an
energy list.  this is for a list i believe is ten years running.  a
very rare accomplishment in public online forums.  thank you to all
who created and continue to recreate this discussion forum (as well as
the related stoves and terra preta forums).

i showed up here a mere 2.5 or so years ago.  i had never heard of
gasification before i stumbled upon this list.  at that point i was
just after good discussion of heat engines/cycles, and the list was
rather distracted to and focussed on such topics at the time.  recent
times seem to have brought it back to a more direct gasification
focus, but which of course is indirectly related to nearly everything,
thus why most of us remain stuck in the gasification portal.  little
did i know back then that gasification was the "operating system of
fire".   i ended up learning vastly more about fuel, combustion and
heat engines from studying this hydrocarbon "operating system", than i
ever would have by yet more years of direct mulling over heat cycles
and related machines.

for those who are newer here, i strongly encourage you to devour the
BEF books at www.woodgas.com.  there are no quick and easy answers in
the world of gasification (though many of us continue to attempt and
believe we can create a reasonable approximation).  in the interim,
you will need to continue mining the science and related technology of
the 4 processes (drying, pyrolysis, combustion, reduction), and the
ever curious relationships that develop between them in real world
machines.
