[Gasification] More on ORCs -- food for thoughts

Well -- that kind of proves that point --
did you note:
Plant Output: 1,000,000 Watts AC
Solar Collector Thermal Capacity: 6843 kW
So -- over all system efficiency:
1/6.843 = 14.5%
Say -- know any solar arrays getting that kind of "efficiency"???
3rd world style:
So -- figure four pieces of roofing zinc 16 ft long -- two to a side -- to
make that "trough" -- and have that whole unit tilt on a North South axis
to track the sun -- no big deal -- eh??
When night comes -- or cloudy rainy weather -- fire up the old thermal
gasifier -- save the char!!
OK -- we'll now wait for another ten years for the rest of em to digest this.
Or maybe quicker once you all realize that the price of solar cells are
rocketing up in price faster than crude with no end in sight yet!!
Go "ORC"!!!!!! Be an "ORCER" --
And never ever forget -- Kevin always said it could not be done!!
Wonder if Kevin will post his chart "proving" it can't be done -- one more
time??
(Say were there not a pile of engineers saying the same about flying using
airplanes heavier than air??)

Ormat does some larger projects too. I toured this plant on its opening
last year. I have a whole bunch of photos of it if anyone's interested.
