Greetings all.

In amongest all the other junk that keeps my "foot to the floor" working on projects, the wife and I decided to purchase 2 new computers, with the new Microsoft Windows "Vista"..

Finally, I have a working e-mail account, but sadly I've lost about 7 days incoming mail and a lot of precious time.

It appears that Office 2000 does NOT work with windows Vista (something about "Wab.dll") but the file does not exist in XP so what that is all about, I have no idea.

Anyhow, I've dropped "Outlook" and moved down to "Windows Mail" (formally outlook express), until I can afford the new version office at somewhere around 600.00 bucks CDN.

WAS IT WORTH IT ?

As far as speed, yes, our computers where in the 1.0GHZ mark and sadly overburdened with all the "bloat-ware" of recent software additions.

As far as ease of use, yes, the new system is almost intuitive as to what I'm going to do next.....

As far as migration from the old computer... NOT, what a "hell time" this was, this will be the last migration I will do, one whole week of this doesn't work with that, that will not access this... this hardware has no new drivers for vista as yet, the list goes on and on.... the change from "documents and settings" to "users" with dummy 'locked down" shortcuts that point older programs to the new locations...

Would I do it again.... NO, I would get off the internet first, OR look to Apple.

Greg
