I have heard that the military have been using a, portable vapor driven
generator for years. Providing "silent" power near the front line. it runs on
Kerosene. These should be coming up at the surplus stores?

It occurred to me that an induction generator could be constructed using a
hermetic refrigeration compressor of the "Scroll type". If high pressure
vapor were forced into the low pressure side of this pump, it would cause the
rotor to turn. the exhaust would come out of the HP side and go to a condenser,
The trick is to get the condensed liquid back into the boiler. It should be
possible to use a pump but a far more elegant solution, would of course,
be an injector using super heated vapor from the boiler to force low temp
condensate back into the boiler.
Thus, the unit would be a hermetically sealed power plant. The energy for
which would be provided by our gasifier fitted with untold heat reclamation
and fuel drying capacity coupled to this hermetic power plant.

Persons unfortunate enough, to not be enjoying connection to the national
grid, which would normally be used for the excitation of this induction
generator, can with a little innovation concoct a network of capacitors across
the power terminals to provide: the required excitation, which turns an
induction motor into a generator. We should all learn how to do this with our
surplus squirrel cage motors in case the grid fails.
