Another question is their succeptability to viruses? In my 25+years of using
Apple OS's, I have never had a virus and never had to reinstall an operating
system. All of the Windows based programs can be run on the older Apples, and
the new ones apparently will run them directly. I use Virtual PC running
Windows 98 (now there are later Windows OS available) on an Apple and used Autocad
with ease, the Windows 98 actually being more stable than when run on a Windows
based machine.

Both companies, Apple and Microsoft had strong roots in Albuquerque,
Microsoft actually being founded in New Mexico. Their offices are now used by the
State of New Mexico. Paul Allen owns over 100,000 sq. ft. of office space there. A
company called MITS Altair started building home computer kits and Bill Gates
got started working with or for them. A friend of mine has some of his
original programming notes. Steven Jobs bought a MITS Altair and started from there.
Bill Gates was caught speeding in December 1977 and spent the night in jail,
I have his booking photo. He was driving a Ferrari or some other high end car
as his parents were well off, his mother being on the national board of United
Way. Lots of interesting history. He couldn't raise money in Albuquerque,
asked his father for money and he agreed to but only if he moved up to the
Seattle area so he could watch him. The attorney who did their IPO refused to take
stock in the company for payment, and his heirs are still upset about it.
