Following [once again] are some simple things that Mark Gallmeir can do to
check out the reality of Global Warming. [They just take money ! No need for a
phd or ice cores from Greenland] >
• Go to Alaska and talk to the people who are getting two crops of
something or other in one summer. In the memory of man, this has never happened
before. And in Alaska human beings have a pretty good memory, because some of the
same people have lived there for at least 12,000 years.
• Go to the coastal villages in Alaska which have been badly battered by
the waves generated by spring storms, because the ice breaks up sooner and no
longer acts as a protective barrier.
• Go to northern Michigan and talk to the people who are raising
vegetables in the summer, in places where this has never been done before, at least
not in human memory.
• Go to Glacier National Park and check out where the eleven glaciers are
now, compared to where they were in photographs taken 60-70 years ago. [A
similar experience can be had in Switzerland or on Mt. K, in Kenya.]
• Go to coastal Maine at low tide and look for rocks with white rings
around their upper parts, where the normal high tides used to stop. Then go back
at high tide and check how many rings are completely under water.
• Go to Miami Bay and take a tourist boat at high tide, to see the
21 islands, most of them with houses and fixed piers. Notice how many piers
have undersides lapped by the water, when these undersides should be 12-18 inches
above the high tide.
• Read news reports such as the following

<< ... < Rich industrialized nations must take the lead in cutting
greenhouse gases since they bear the " unshirkable responsibility " for causing global
warming, a Chinese official said yesterday, as new statistics - which amazed
even Beijing - showed the true scale of China's soaring energy appetite.
< New figures, released quietly at the end of January, showed that China
last year surpassed its often-cited statistic of adding more electricity
generating power each year than the entire UK national grid.
< The figures from the China Electric Power News, the mouthpiece of the
state industry, showed that the country added 102 gigawatts of new capacity last
year - the equivalent of twice the total capacity of California.
< ... The figure appears also to have surprised the State Grid Corporation,
which controls 80 per cent of China's power transmission and is generally the
authority on such issues. It estimated just months ago that new capacity would
range between about 75 GW and 80 GW, a shortfall of about 20-25 per cent
[versus] the latest number.> >>
Cordially. End of message.
