This week the International Herald Tribune and New York Times carried
articles about a small gasifier in the village of Baharbari in Bihar India.
See links to that article and to a study titled, "Validation Report of a
Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Biomass Gasifier Power Plant in the Norther Indian
State of Bihar" by Andreas Gantenbein for the Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology at:
http://gasifiers.bioenergylists.org/desibihar
The study evaluates the project using the criteria for Project Design
Documents (PDD) for Clean Devlopment Mechanism (CDM) procedures under the UN
Joint Framework for Climate Control (UNFCCC-CDM).
The gasifier is a 40 kWe IISc-DASAG downdraft open top suppling an engine
with 100% producer gas. The fuels are briquettes of rice husk and wood. A
major fuel component will be daincha, a fast growing, nitrogen fixing plant
that is intercropped with rice.
