Greetings All!
For those that don't know me, I live in the southern area of Manitoba,
Canada. A week ago, it was plus 9c (48f) the snow was melting and causing
very icy roads and such.
WELL, WELL !! This weekend, it has gotten COLD! As I write this it's
currently minus 31c (-23f) at Minus 40, both F and C are the same, the
current temp WITH wind chill factored in, is Minus 41c (-42f) According to
"the weather network.com" tonight should hit minus 45c, with a wind-chill of
minus 50c (-58f).
We heat with wood, (outdoor wood setup) and the ambient air is so cold,
that the fire will not get "roaring" only meek flames without the addition
of forced XS air to increase the burn rate. Even at that, cord wood will
only burn with a dull roar, I've had to add "store bought lumber" chunks to
bring the overall fire temp. to the point that will overcome the house and
shop's need for heat, and actually build water temp for this evening.
It looks like I will be doing this all night, roughly every 2 hours or so.
The worst of it.... The cold snap is here until at least Tuesday....
Anyone want to see if I can stay up for 5 days ?

Brandon, Manitoba, Canada
