To Tom Reed & All,

One mail order source for the ITC ceramic coating Drew mentioned is Budget
Casting Supply:

http://www.budgetcastingsupply.com/ITC.html

BCS also sells kaowool ceramic blanket by the 'foot' (12" x 24") and other
castable refractories.

Perlite is available at big box home improvement stores and garden stores.

2700 F & 3000 F furnace cements are available from Ace Hardware, fireplace
and wood stove suppliers.

Bagged ground fireclay is available from local building suppliers anywhere
in North America where contractors are installing fireplaces. I've found
this to include Fort Myers, Florida where I bought my last three bags of
fireclay. So that probably means everywhere in the USA & Canada.
Firebricks are typically carried by the same suppliers.

Best Wishes,

Mark

Major metropolitan areas will have at least one supplier stocking industrial
quality refractory supplies including castables, kaowool and coatings.

Note: For some reason Drew's message about Rockwool didn't come in the
"Digest".
