Cellulosic ethanol: an alternative route...
Where have you been?
Your referenced enzyme technology was invented at the U of F patented
and sold 1995 to the former head of US CIA an attorney James Woolsey.
who later appeared before Sen Lugar (R) Indiana and testified about the
New Petrolium. which appeared as a co authored text and is published on
line. A plant was built in Louisiana by BC ?I to produce ethanol using
this method and at last report has yet to be on line with this method.
FDA and USDA got involved as the enzymes are genetically modified and
require Gov approval for use. The two major manufacturers of these
enzymes both received substantial grants from US Gov to develop and test
the technology. Purdue has some of the latest research on it as they
apparently got the federal grants
None of this is new.the U S Army had the process developed in the late
1970's I may still have the news clip.
Some facts are demonstrated. as relevant commercial design criteria for
bio energy in all systems for renewables: And yes these are peer
reviewed concerns are matters that are available to a skilled researcher
Start with the California Ethanol studies available on line. Then check
out Congresssman Roscoe Bartlett R Md web page. He has spent countless
hours and staff time on energy and
unlike mere mortals was Chair of the House Science Committee with full
access to Dept of Energy studies. Interestingly DOE grant funded test
research is covered by non disclosure agreements on proprietary
processes..
Then you can examine the work of Cornell's
David Pimentel, professor of ecology and agriculture at Cornell
University, has co-authored an analysis that finds that producing
ethanol or biodiesel from ...

And yes the process produces Toxics a by products a long with
undesirable VOC.
There are two methods of renewables that I have seen reviewed and meet
viable commerical criteria for renewables that hands down beat biofuels
from crops and planted and harvested crops.
1. Ocean wave energy not tide.
3. Plasma thermal and magnetic capture Pyrolysis in inert gases of
waste at the point where the waste is generated at the home, office
factory .
Israel, has a really advanced program on it I have been told.
