There is absolutely no smoking occurring when the diesel runs-away -- but
if your lugging it -- yes -- not mosquito is safe for miles around -- and
whole towns are blanketed in smoke screen!!
You really have to mind how you deal with the fuel pedal when you run in
that "mode".
You carefully rev the engine in gear till the crank gasses start burning --
then turn off the ignition -- running on fumes only.
Your one mode of control is pushing on the brakes every now and then to
slow the car and engine down.
Not recommended for everyone -- hell -- not recommended mode of operation
at all!!
This only occurs in engines where the rings are really shot -- and blow
back is of monstrous proportions.
And remember -- the engine crank case vent of a rabbit diesel goes to
behind the air filter -- thus right back into the engine -- through the
intake.
You have hear of a snake eating it's own tail??
A worn out Volks's diesel can eat it's own smoke!!
