Hi Andy,
It seems like it would be pretty easy to convert those "bricks" into cubes,
if you felt like it. Maple is primo fuel with high density. You're lucky to
have sources of fuel with so much value addition already in-place available
to you. Are the branch trims reasonably dry? What do you estimate the range
of your pick-up is, loaded with wood?
I hope you'll post some photos on the Gasification website...

Hi Mark,
I'm using 3"long, up up two inch diameter maple wood for fuel (treetops
from saw-logs). A sawmill near here, has a pile of cut-offs from
hardwood-flooring manufacture that also look suitable.
The mill also produces stove-fuel bricks made from sawdust. They measure 2
1/2" x 3" x 6". I saw the machine which makes them. The moisture content
must be held low (sawdust from kiln-dried hardwood lumber). Lignin in the
sawdust, melts from friction when the powerful hydraulics extrude the
bricks. This binds the sawdust into a single, dense, huge "pellet".
Fuel-bricks exiting the machine feel warm. They package the product in
convienient bundles covered with paper. Suggested retail price is $225/ton.
One ton equals a full cord of firewood, but occupies half the space. It may
make a wonderful motor-fuel, if jumbled loosely within a monerator.
