Quite some time back, didn't Marvel Mystery Oil have a drip type 
"upper cylinder lubricator"?  Would an intermittent sprayer (similar 
to port fuel injectors) do what is desired?

Let's see, port injection every XXX revolutions (to limit oil use) 
into the intake SHOULD get to the rings and be wiped onto the 
walls.  As long as the amount is right, even a fresh engine should work.
