Tom.

I browsed through the USPO flying the "Zeolite" key word.
There have been great numbers of patents issued using this material, many of which form catalysts for petro chemical refinement.
This leads me to believe there are some very useful products in mass production which may be of use in Bio gas applications.
Researching the information might be time consuming, but the cost of the required material might not be that expensive after patents run out.
The catalytic converters on vehicles being one example. the metal 78 being the expensive component. what's the rest of it made with?
I obtained the Molecular sieve used as a desiccant at a local chemical supplier quite cheap. it had a specific number type and size, I will look this up when I get back to my office next week.

Dear GF and all:
I helped develop the original zeolite Pressure Swing Absorbtion zeolites
t Linde in the 1950-1970 period and now we know how to separate the
xygen from air and a wide variety of other separations.
Sure it's easy to separate many gas and liquid streams - after you have
eveloped 30 different zeolite configurations with different pore sizes,
easured their absorbtion properties and tailored it to the specific
olecules your are interested. Intial cost probably $100 Million for
hem back then.
Wonderful minerals, the molecular sieves after you have done the research.

I know there are some very bright people on this list, Peter has mentioned:
research!research!

Zeolite comes in many forms. naturally mined or manufactured.
The characteristics of these materials, can be refined to suit the filtration
f most gasses.
With a twin tower arrangement and the correct?material it should be possible
o remove one gas from another.
This could be turned into a much sought after super filtration system and gas
urification unit which is easy and relatively cheap to construct.
Its uses could include the removal of N2 or O2 or both in one pass. It could
emove H2 from CO2 or CO from CO2
The machine I built was nothing more than two pieces of 6" galvanized water
ipe with end caps. about 14 lb of Molecular sieve, a change over valve,
lectric timer and some pipe and fittings.? I designed this unit along previous
esigns for the removal of water from the air stream.?I ordered the Sieve to
uit.
?This unit, provides 120 psi Air @24cuft pm of -60 deg f or better, to purge
he optical cavities of a C.N.C Laser cutting machine capable of cutting 1/2"
teel plate.
Now I know that Biomass derived gas requires quite a clean up before it can be
sed for any thing other than a flare.

Traces of tar or oil could not be passed through such a gas ?refining system.
There are other methods?for the removal of these unwanted contaminants, and to
his end I refer back to the patent office.
I suggest that we all use this resource, to find the keys to our problems. The
eason being: these problems are not new. and have probably already been
ddressed in one form or another. For instance:Turning crude oil into producer
as or water gas in a continuous stream. no trace of tar afterwards!?The process
e require is more than half way down line. we don't need the first half just
he gas refinement part.
