Peter.
I believe the basic interest shown on this list service is the evolution of untapped energy, the most obvious being the conversion of waste into gas.
When I first joined this site, I started to construct a down draft gasifier, but as more and more information began to mount, it appeared to me that there were other systems and processes being developed which were at the sharp end of a technology which is in its infancy.
I saw the guy with the micro waves, setting fire to the gas generated from salty water,, held up in the beam. This stimulated some thought on the effect of high frequency electro magnetic waves on gasses. we all?Know the effect?of high temperature and reformation, But the application of both might be?worth investigation.
I will finish off my gasification system but intend to send the generated? product through an ionization stage( which requires only a small input of energy) and see if this process has promise. I have often wondered what causes the pattern?formed within a snow flake. each seems quite unique from the next, there is an obvious answer to this, which may be of great value. every molecule has?a harmonic frequency, there for, joining one to another with the?application ?of electro magnetic radiation and a given temperature. could produce the gas of our dreams.
The production of an arc produces a frequency capable of blotting out radio transmission bands over a wide spectrum.
?I once built an arc welder based upon a Bosch 100 amp alternator (automotive) intended for use on a truck?as a welding accessory.
I had it on a test bed driven by a?4 hp motor with fly wheel, geared up to about 20 to one. I made some modifications to the internal wiring arrangements of the 3 phase out put of this alternator. The unregulated output exceeded?150 volts. ?As a supply for welding, it was exceptional. the most remarkable qualities of its performance were the smooth weld it provided ,and the high pitched singing noise which accompanied the deposition of metal. The high frequency was the secret.
Today, this technology is achieved with solid state electronics at a price. The point I am making here is: the higher the frequency, the better.
If it is possible to manufacture?the ?"gas of our dreams" using a pre heater such as a down draft unit, and subjecting the product to?an arc or high frequency process. The problem of dirty gas?might be?solved.
Cleaning up dirty gas with filters to remove tars etc , seems to?signify an incomplete process.?

For those here that can afford to pay out big money for "reports":
http://nexant.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0255-3341/Developments-in-Syngas-Technolog
y.html
Full Report Price: $7,000.00
Delivery: Immediate Online Access
Publication Date: 01-FEB-05
Pages: 137
Format: PDF document
But if you go to this url -- they give a condensed description -- free! --
and lot's of basic process diagrams -- formulas -- etc.
You don't suppose -- another FRAUD"!!
Anyway -- one would think "syngas" is gaining renewed interest!!
Again - -the simplest way to make syngas of fairly decent quality would be
to run a WWII gasifier on O2 enriched air -- PSA technology --
So I "submit" that PSA systems should also be included as "ON-TOPIC"
As this would breath new life into partial combustion gasifiers --
And no -- PSA is not a fraud -- it is an economic -- well developed -- well
proven -- means of getting more O2 -- out of "air" --
