Harmon, Rolf,
I had a similar idea a couple of years ago, where charcoal dust was formed
into round discs - about the size of a movie film canister perhaps 9" to12"
diameter and 2" thick.
These discs would be wrapped in waxed paper to aid lighting, and after they
were consumed, the ash would remain in the "can" for easy disposal.
I guess I got the idea from those instant, disposable barbeques.
When travelling in China, I saw a particular type of briquette, about 4"in
diameter and perhaps 2" thick. It was perforated with many 3/8" holes.
These were used everywhere for cooking in the street kitchens.
