Apart from the fact it might be a recipe for car thieves to circumvent
an immobiliser a complete retrofit engine management system with an
ignition module and crank position sensor running an old laptop and
cut down Linux may be a viable way of converting old lorry
turbo-diesel engines to run off producer gas.

Keep the revs down low and use the turbo to ensure full volumetric
efficiency, with CO's wide flammability range you might be able to
lean out the mixture for low loads and ramp it up when there's a
bigger demand without altering rpm.
