[Gasification] OT - Six Stroke Engine

I am very surprised to learn from Doug that apparently I could run an
engine on producer gas all day and not have a wet finger sizzle on
the exhaust manifold, even with no radiator in use.
I think the real problem with this engine is that in order to
generate a useful steam pressure, it has to keep the combustion
chamber temperature well above 100 C. There is a useful gradient on
the way to the water jacket, but nothing like the temperatures found
in efficient boilers. Running the exhaust through the water jacket
in the head would help, and it could also superheat the injection
water first. Smokey Yunick and others have worked on hotter engines
with cooling only by the intake and exhaust under the name
adiabatic. They prefer carbide parts to lubrication.
I suspect that Mr. Crower's 160 employees are not on this project,
and have access to a much larger dyno. Presumably, he hasn't rigged
one for the testing yet because he is still trying basic variations
where just running eagerly is a success.
Best,
Bob Stuart
