Grains are finished as heating fuels because of the bozo bioenergy policy
for ethanol in the US.
The cheapest alternative now is crop milling residues pellets made of oat
hulls, sunflower hulls, wheat bran, barley hulls and flax shives. There is a
lot of interest now in grass pellets for commercial boiler fuels.

Subject: [Gasification] pellet mill - straw and corn stover
I am relatively new member to this list, so I was glad to see the post in
regard to pellet mills. I am researching the feasibility of pelleting
common "waste" products of agriculture, i.e. straw or corn stover. I
currently have a shelled corn stove to provide supplemental heat to my home,
but the price of corn has become almost uneconomical to use.
Does anyone have insight in the pelleting of straw or corn stover?
Likewise, any suggestions for equipment to do proof-of-concept work with?
(ideally cheap, used equipment)
