Except in nations of man where they subsidize heavily such costs -- free
corn for the masses -- democracies.

Most of the rest of planet earth -- all those that are not energy self
sufficient -- taxed heavily energy resources to subdue the consumption curve.

Would be interesting to do a little poll on this list.

Based on the price of a US gallon of gasoline --

As example -- here in Belize -- we pay $5.15 US per gallon of gasoline.

I believe Europe -- Japan -- England pay more??

Anyway -- this policy has done wonders in regards for raising public
awareness to conservation issues. Especially in 3rd world economies.

Further -- we pay 25 cents per KWH -- ergo -- everyone has changed of to CF
lighting -- and in process of energy efficient fridges -- fans -- and of
course -- no hair driers -- electric stoves -- electric clothes driers --
for get Air conditioning -- etc.

Our lives have not suffered from any loss of quality as a result of our
ability to simply "conserve" -- it really takes small capital investment to
conserve. Sometimes -- even negative capital investment (do not buy energy
consumption intensive devices!!)

Having observed this in real time here -- I find it hard to accept your
political stand "there" -- that being:

Change of American life style is non-negotiable.

Hate to be the one to tell you this -- but your political system is bad
breath!!

No amounts of alternative energies is going to fix it -- learning
conservation will.

So -- people now working building SUVs would lose their jobs -- but how
many new jobs would be created meeting the new standards??

At least the same -- if not more.

And that is what your saying -- but your political system is holding you down.

Tell me -- how did the US end up so "backwards"??

(Fluoridated water -- how else can one explain this??)

Peter
