Dear Toby,

After thinking about, I do use ceramics in the design of my grate. It’s a
very simple approach. I place rocks on top of the steel grate and these
rocks are made from broken firebrick. The bricks are a cream white in
color and are about 8” by 4” by 1” high. I think they are used in
fireplaces. The steel part of the grate can rotate and move up and down
(also moving/shaking the rocks). I call it the Roto-Grate. Maybe I should
name it the 3D-Grate instead because of the depth of the rocks and it can
travel in the Z axis.
