Jeff -- do you have any idea just how many people over the years on this
list have tried to make the succesful IC gasifier and never reached
completion??
India alone -- huge research and development -- and in the end??
Greg -- how are you making out?? got that gasifier powering the Caddy V-8
to make power for your farm yet??

Can anyone show me the "rule" that only gasification to supply fuel for IC
engine operation is allowed as topics here??
Hey -- thermal gasifiers and solar heating are the perfect marriage -- as
thermal gasifiers can take over the load when the sun don't shine.
But no -- we continue -- always -- with gasifiers for IC engines -- and
nothing else!!
Maybe we are another flat earth society??
What do they say about people that do the same thing over and over -- with
the same poor results -- yet never changing??
I have demonstrated "small" thermal gasifier systems already on the market
place -- ones that are maintenance free -- life expectancies of 30 years
plus -- quite efficient -- operate 24/7 --
Yet all we get here is more:
How can I make gas with less tars and cool it down to run my IC engine --
When we know the best of the best can only do this:
"There are many (2000?) very small gasifiers in India and Asia (4-10 kWe)
that operate 5-6 hours per day. At a capacity factor of 25% (6 hrs/day x 4
kWe) add 18 million kWh"
5 to 6 hours a day -- "maybe" ---
Tom suggests that many smart contributors have left the list because of to
much off topic discussions.
Well Tom -- let me suggest they have left because they are so tired of
beating dead horse all the time.
No Tom -- call me crazy -- call me mean -- but try an say it aint true -- eh??
Here is a question for people -- can producer gas be used for fuel in a
catalytic heater??
That has very important ramifications -- but no -- all we can discuss is
less tars so the IC engine can run a decent period without shutting down.
And that based on a whole pile of "Gimm-mees"
Give me perfect wood chunks of all the same species -- 2.1406 Cm by 2.67 CM
-- moisture content of exactly 14.78% -- and see here -- I can produce tar
free gas!!
A thermal gasifier will digest just about any fuel -- even mixed fuels --
moistures from zilch to 55% or higher -- reliably -- easily --
But never on this mail list will we discuss that subject!!
We used to though -- and in great depth.
Most of the very real action occurred here about thermal gasifiers -- as in
real projects that one on to become real power producers.
This hang up with reproducing WWII gasifier technology might well be a good
hobby -- but folks -- it is just not practical.
And Tom -- many of the best have left this list due to that alone.

Heck -- even Tom T -- one of our few list members that actually makes and
"sells" gasifiers is doing thermal gasifiers -- not gasifiers for IC
engines now!!
I did take note that the powers that be on this list believe that off topic
discussions are to blamed -- not dead horse beating -- so I expect more of
the best will eventually wonder off.
The list has become a hobbiest forum!!
And will shoot down any other kind of input!!
So -- just what do you expect -- eh??
Appended is more from the "archives" and is current to "refractories" and
also a little on catalytic heating.
I wish to remind the members -- "DENIAL" of realites never solves anything!!

One slight correction, Skip.
We maintain a minimum stocking level of 30,000 sq. ft. of cerawool blanket.
We use it to wrap (externally) combustion systems of smaller boiler vessels.
We utilize our proprietary Hurst Mud (high density (140 lb/cu. ft.), high
silica,
water based, ramable) refractory for our four pass boilers and gasification
and combustion chambers. Stocking level fluctuates from 3 - 10 tons.
Finally, we employ castable refractories for burners rings, firebox
combustion
chambers and we fabricate some arch bricks. Stocking minimum of 10 pallets.
