I have not had the time to really read the article but I think they are
trying to burn some of the gas to do thermal reforming. There is Btu's in
tar so they burn some of the gas to reform the tar into gas. So maybe they
end up with the same value producer gas.

Or maybe they are just harvesting some grant money.... :)
