Dear Max
I would suggest that teh best way is to start by taking an Introductory
Welding Course at a Community College. That will give you insight into
technique, settings, rod selection, equipment selection, etc. for
various jobs you may wish to undertake.
The kind of equipment, its duty cycle, and size depend on the kind of
work you expect to be doing most often.
