Talking about tar;
One of my collection of gasifier stories was from a dutch fellow who as a
boy assisted his father run a wood busines in the Netherlands during the
second world war. They had a truck fitted with a gasifier and his first job
in the morning was to lift the cylinder head cover and hit all the tappets
with a soft face hammer to free up the valves.
The truck was the fired up and it had to run continuously all day even
through lunch breaks etc. Because it it sat for more than 10 minutes it was
very difficult to start again. Cheers, Ken C.
