I have some evidence of something similar on one of our gas turbines,
it was bought and modified to suck up and burn the toluene vapours
above a printing machine. I wasn't involved but apparently it did work
with minimal support fuel, no power was taken off but it was a self
sustaining means of exhausting the room and incinerating the volatile
compounds. It seems the ink particles coalesced on the inlet
centrifugal compressor blades and were centrifuged off onto the
casing, eventually the build up of ink spanned the small clearance and
seized the compressor.
