David; we must consider all parts of fuels processing. Not only btu gained by surface, also cost of capital from lands.Energy efficiency process. Cost of tech evaluating not only advanced tech searching for low cost tech.Corn ethanol is very expensive in plantation, harvesting and final price then is impossible to fight against oil products.
We must consider marginal low cost areas like river sides an others for fuel production. Probably combining hard wood with softwoods as raw materials producing paper pulp and energy products.
