Hi Benjamin, and Colleagues,
Here is some info to fill in a few gaps, because we have discussed this
gasifier previously.

You can see this ferrocement gasifier on the Fluidyne Archive
www.fluidynenz.250x.com under Diagrams, but my photos are all on negatives,
so cannot show it as built. This gasifier was originally developed in
Thailand, by Dr Robert Reines, and picked up by the University Of Bremen,
where Ulrich Graf then took the technology to developing countries. The
other emphasis of this project for developing countries, was to develop a
simple metal gasifier, which I designed, and it also is show on the Fluidyne
Archive as a DIY gasifier project. If I remember correctly, Arturo
Aeberhard, was the nominated engineer who I met in Germany while he was
receiving his training to build these cement gasifiers.
The concept was excellent, and very manufacturable in a rural environment.
The only problem was that it could only gasify charcoal, but we looked at
the possibility of it using very hard dry wood. To this end, the hopper was
lifted a bit, over the open core oxidation zone, so that pyrolysis gases
could burn on top of the char bed. This was not easy to do in Germany due to
lack of suitable wood species with similar qualities as native hardwoods.
Dr Raines did some very innovative work with gasification, proving that a
carrot contains enough fibre if gasified, to produce the energy required to
process it, and refractory made from cow dung, sand, and cement. The last I
heard from him, was from New Mexico, where he was the Safety Officer of a
High School, informing me of his disillusionment with gasification.
Doug Williams,
Fluidyne.

Let's try to keep the focus on gasification.
As I have offered before, I will set up another list focused on politics
if there is enough interest.
