I'v used pinch valves on occasions for controlling solids. and a variety? of valve liners including? the higher temperature plastics such as Teflon are available.

Jim, the only reasonably priced star valves that I am aquainted with are
those used in the grain industry for pneumatic
transfer of goods. They all have rubber seals, which wouldn't take too
kindly to
hot charcoal methinks. Maybe you could replace the rubber seals with
somethig better? The ones we used in the coffee industry were by Kongskilde
in the Netherlands. But any manufacturer of pneumatic grain equipment
should have something. Ken C.
