[Gasification] The Monorator

Greetings Jim, and list members.
In reply to your questions, are you speaking internal or external (surface)
temps ? external are ambient outdoor temp (plus 20c to minus -30c). At
anything below 0c the oils drop out, BUT at the same time the condensate
amount drops off as well, I did some research into this, and believe the
cause is differential from external case wall to internal of same outer
casing, (clarification, each side of the same outer shell) the monorator
simply put, starts to become a heatsink, and cools the bunker off, to much,
to be of any real value to pre-gasifier condensate collection.
As far as the phenol oils, I would say yes more so to that, as in, yes,
they are more so formed at the hot spot just above the transition from
intermediate bunker to upper bunker area, (upper being the actual
monorator). formation of these, IMO needs steam to "draw them out" and since
the function of a monorator is to remove excess condensate from the wood,
the production of steam and condensate are hand in hand. that was the
reasoning in the some what "dirty" (Sorry) post earlier of me, simply
put.... a monorator should only be used as a "absolute" moisture control,
NOT an excuse to run wet wood......

Greg,
What temperature is the surface of your monorator? Does this affect the
quantity of phenol oils that are produced, or are they formed at the hot
spot in the base of the monorator?
