Greg Manning has raised an important point which I have not seen before.

How long can a gasifier run unattended ?

This could be an important issue for Puerto Rico. Suppose we scatter a lot of
mini-generating stations [ 30 to 50 gross mWe ] around 150,000 acres of
elephant grass. How long can they be trusted to run alone ?

One option is to have "circuit riding" technicians, one of whom visits each
station every so many hours. But what should be the schedule ? This of course,
would be a lot cheaper than having someone on site all the time, most of the
time reading newspapers, listening to the radio or playing dominoes with
visitors.

Certainly the OEM's will have something to say about this, but what is actual
field experience ?  Must one have a backup on call at all times, in case the
duty person gets sick or has an auto accident ?  And so on.

Cordially.  ###
