Hallo Rosmini,

thanks for your posting, I am very interested in husk gasifiers. Please
report it´s performance and behaviour as soon as you have more experience.
What power and efficiency does it claim ?
Do you use it only for thermal applications or do you want to feed motors ?

Thanks
Rolf

Dear All,

I just recently signed up to your list and I would like to share with you my
little experience in rice husk gasification.

The design of my downdraft gasifier using rice husk as feedstock was based
on the guidelines issued by Prof. Alexis Belonio who has extensive
experience in rice husk gasification. The inside diameter of the reactor is
about 39 cm and the height is about 140 cm.

The air supply for the ash conveyor system and reactor is through a one hp
electric motor propelled blower. The electric motor has 1750 rpm and in my
initial testing, I observed there is too much air supply because the rice
husk inside the reactor is coming up in the hooper.

I do not have instrument to measure the exact air supply required for proper
gasification. The blower I used is intended for rice milling operation, the
blade has length of 4 inches. In order to reduce the air supply I intend to
reduce the gear ratio to 3 (motor shaft) is to 5 inches (blower shaft),
thereby lowering the speed of the blower.

The air supply system has a devise, butterfly manifold, to control air flow
to the reactor.

I intend to use the gasifier for thermal heat required for distillery of
rice wine and drying of grains.

I have a rice mill with capacity of 80-cavan (3,200 kg.) of rice paddy,
thus, I have a captive supply of rice husk.

After I have modified the air supply, I will share with you the result of
testing.

Best regards,

Ross dela Cruz
