[Gasification] ETHANOL GASIFICATION FOR DIESEL ENGINES

Greg & April; I translate from doctor Thomas B. Reed his matter about methanol. There he says about Peter Robeck flights over Stalingrad in WWII.
Water /methanol is fifty/fifty relationship . For burn ethanol is also good fuel .
Our experience is to use "dual fuel" in diesel motors like Deutz 6FL 514 using chunkettes for wood gas and diesel oil.
I was published it in 1990 in Dinámica Rural Revista of Buenos Aires .
Dual fuel or "cofiring" is an fact well studied in many scientific places.
My uncle Alberto Bof in Concordia , Entre Rios, Argentine bought ian Bedford truck made in England model 1957 fitted with Perkins 6-305 diesel motor "chainer" with an "Ki-gas" device. With an "primer" or little cylinder pump at truck panel was injected kerosene over an glow plug in inlet manifold to help the motor start in winters.
Diesel motors also use ether to start endangered to crack it crankshaft.
My abstract now is to inject in gasifier outlet low grade ethanol to produce your
"cooling effect". There we have high temperature and long path to engine.
In cars injection equipment is in manifold but we can mix our fuels anywhere.
For me this is only the beginning.
  Thank you very much again.
  Regards, Ben

I can't take credit, I have seen the idea on the net but in that case, they
used methanol.

Greg & April; i wish to explain why your proposal is happy for me.
In 2005 we arrange one motor to use E 85 from gasoline motor.
We set an heater at carbureter base with water cooling system.
Also change nozzles and reduces venturi dimension.
Ethanol needs to mix with air an important amount of heat due it have
very high vaporization coefficient.
34 percent of its energy is to distill.
Under carbureter base it have vaccum producing to cool air into inlet
manifold
. This fact is worst to mix ethanol to air near dew point.
At low temperatures heat transmission is not good and liquid path is very
short.
With your proposal is all favourable; high air temperature, long path to
homogeneous charge obtained and efficient cooling allowing to increase
fresh air amount into cylinders.
This week my friend Paulo Alcover bought one Deutz FL 913 diesel engine
and we are thinking to set ethanol devices to boost it.
SAE have guidelines for improve this motor to reduce emissions.
This is the way.
Thank you very much again.
Regards, Ben
