[Gasification] DOE's demonstration gasification project history

Dear Greg

A subsidy is absorption of part of the true cost of a product by a
Government. There are "Direct Subsidies" such as the $.50 per gallon of
bio-ethanol for admixture with, or as a substitute for gasoline. Then
there are hidden subsidies, such as the cost of the US Military, to
ensure that oil is available to the US.

If the cost of the US Military that was primarily directed at securing
oil supplies were factored in, US Oil Imports should be charged off at
something in the range of $200 per bbl. This would mean $6 to $7 gallon
gasoline.

Best wishes,

Kevin
