Chuck and Huso, exist one project to split CO2 using solar energy.
Simply with mirrors you can reach near 700 C.
Hydrogen from water can help to make methanol.

THE IDEA IS : CANT WE PRODUCE BIO/FULES IE : METHANOL BY USING EXSISTING
CO2 IN AIR BY ABCENCE OF ANY GASIFICATION TECHNOLGIES ?
SO WE CAN RECYLE CO2 AND CONVERT GREENGASES IN TO FUELS ..

The issue is the energy requirement. It requires more energy to convert
CO2 into methanol than the amount of fuel energy we can get out of it.
Plants store the energy from sunlight as chemical energy in the plant
materials. Gasification makes some of this energy available in
biofuels. If we had the energy available, we could just use that
energy, rather than taking the extra step to produce fuel.
