Carlos Minc Baumfeld (Rio De Janeiro, 12 of July of 1951) is one Brazilian politician. Currently he is Minister of the Environment of the government Squid. Descendant of Jewish family, to the eighteen years, attending a course the College of Application of the UFRJ, was vice-president of the Association Metropolitan of Secundaristas Students (YOU LOVE), position of leadership in the half estudantil in full military dictatorship. Regional Planning, for the University Technique of Lisbon. Doutorou in Economy of the Development in the University of Paris, 1984. He is member-founder of Partido Verde (PV), together with Fernando Gabeira and Alfredo Sirkis, having been elect state deputy in 1986, and reeleito, now in the Party of Trabalhadores (PT), in 1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002, when it got its more expressive voting of all the times. Defender of the libertarian socialism, Minc also declares that one of its programmatical bases is the right of the minorities and the environment. He is author of innumerable laws approved for the State legislature of Rio De Janeiro, of which many are come back toward the defense of the environment while others have more to see with the citizenship. He received Prize Global 500, granted for the ONU to the people who if had detached in the defense of the environment in world-wide scope. In the 2006 elections he reelected himself consecutively plus one for the position of
state deputy, adding 78,311 votes [1]. The governor of the state of Rio De Janeiro, Sergio Cabral Son, in 22 of November of 2006, confirmed the nomination of Minc for the position of secretary of the environment. With the order of resignation of the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva in 13 of May of 2008, Carlos Minc was nominated to assume the ministry. Its nomination was announced [2 officially] in the following day for the spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic Marcelo Baumbach.
