The ASME began as an adjunct to insurance companies, and both grew
rich while making the country far safer than when boiler explosions
were sometimes attributed to demons. Only inspected boilers would be
insured, and no hanky-panky was used, but it still paid off like a
traditional protection racket. Those books of standards are worth
their weight in gold and blood. That's why I'm here - internal
combustion is safer, and more efficient on a small scale.

Best,
Bob Stuart
