Hmm.....
Would that be Society of Automotive Engineers? If so, do you have a good
link to the particular reports you are referring to?
In return, would you consider reading:
#1 " Makin' It On The Farm " ( by Micki Nellis - pg 50, Using Alcohol in
Diesel Engines ). #2 " Methanol " ( by Perry and Perry - pgs 109-110 Diesel
Fuel Blends ).
#3 " Methanol Production and Use ( edited by Cheng and Kung - pgs 247 - 249
Methanol In Heavy-Duty Engines ) ?
In a nut shell they get around low cetane issues, by using blends and other
means.
In #1 80% Ethanol and 20% Vegetable oil, and modification of the fuel
injection system " to accommodate the different density of fuel ".
In #2 ( methanol ) the use of AVOCET, controlling cylinder temps, injecting
the fuel over a longer period of time.
In #3 ( methanol ) the use of AVOCET or M85 blend, increasing compression to
>22:1 ( the Los Angeles MTA, used 12 busses that had engines of 23:1
compression, running on M100 for several years )
