[Greenbuilding] Fwd: Arnie's natural ventilation system

We just had a record heat wave in California a few weeks ago.
The east coast is currently being hit.
But it couldn't be Global Warming.

I open my windows at night and naturally ventilate and cool the house.
Works best when there is a slight breeze, not as well during heat waves,
less breeze.
My house is single story, so not too much stack effect to drive the air
movement.
Cost, nothing, except noise (I live on a 4 lane street) and pollution.
I have done a fairly good job at reducing my cooling load so far, but
have more to do (always the best strategy).

The nighbreeze works best in a climate that has a large daily
temperature difference of 15F or more.
We also use a "whole house fan" to pull cooler air in (www.tamtech.com).
If you are in a dry climate an evaporative cooler can give you daytime
cooling if needed (www.oasysairconditioning.com).

On the bright side Europe might be plunged back into an ice age, so you
won't have to worry about it being too hot.
Sorry, an inconvenient truth.
