The most important part of a standing seam roof is the nail base. That is, your roof deck must offer better than average nail holding to justify using it. A standing seam roof has fewer fasteners per sqft., and can be peeled off by high winds if your roof deck is, oh, say, 1/2" plywood. Clarke Olsen
