Because it may be that it is better (greener, lighter, more efficient, 
whatever) than a battery.  This question is still undecided for most 
things, as batteries and hydrogen systems are changing.  NASA  decided 
that hydrogen was better for their application (at the time), and I am 
quite sure they did careful analysis.

Personally, I like the bucky-tube capacitor idea.  Looks promising.
