Bit far for me to drive, but there is a similar oak in the creek near my friend's farm that we can't get out either. Next flood will take it away, so we've got until maybe next spring to do something with it.

Greetings, Colleagues!
There's a storm-downed oak tree 3 ft wide by 20--25 feet long in Napa Valley. The owner is obliged to remove it, and is willing to let people have it free if they will come and chain saw it into sections and haul it away. (he would like one section for a tabletop in return).
For people sensitive to the depletion of the earth's forests, this is a great opportunity to have beautiful oak wood for cabinets, furniture, or floors without felling a living tree.
I have a pickup truck and can help for a share, but am not skilled with a chain saw (nor do I have one). Is anyone interested in pooling resources to collect this beautiful downed tree?
I can send a pic--though not of a cross-section!
Let me know ASAP!
Cheers and Best!
Mary
