I agree plywood is the better product.
Not that SOB is a bad product.
But the market and ecological reality is SOB is the better product.
Plywood needs higher quality wood, which is disappearing.
Not that I thing that monoculture wood farming is a good thing either.
As for glues I wish we would ban urea formaldehyde, period (typically
used for interior grade products).
Phenol formaldehyde (exterior grade) is really not that bad.
The non formaldehyde glues are far more hazardous to the workers in the
plants.
Whether they are any healthier for the carpenter or end user is too soon
to say.
Some times the cure is worse than the disease.
Always spec exterior grade products even for interior use if possible.
