I looked at aluminum garage doors, but they are quite expensive, with
no thermal justification.
What I did was order traditional 16 panel wood doors with glass instead
of wood in the top 12 panels.
To get glass in the bottom row would require using safety glass. This
is single glazed: if you want
to add a second glazing inside, you have to add the weight for whoever
calculates the springs.
I may double the glass with thin plastic window sealing.
If you have a knowledgeable installer willing to hang them, you could
make your own doors.
For my shop, I used one 46" and one 34" patio door unit to fill the 8'
space with a 4.5' and a 3.5'
swinging doors. Better seal, easy walk through with the smaller door.
