It's really just a question of scale.  My experience of living in
both urban and rural areas is that woodsmoke is a very small
part of a very large problem.  The main problem looming in
northern rural areas is the expanding blanket of smog from
the industrial south.  The city I live in most of the time
is disturbingly close to being unable to sustain human life
in a hot summer.  It will be a wonderful day when woodsmoke
becomes a primary concern.
