Lawrence,

Hmm.  I started thinking that this was like the woodstove issue, not 
much help since the exiting temperature of the air needs to be the 
same, so you are comparing the dryer heating the air versus your 
furnace (almost certainly more efficient).  However, I realized that it 
isn't the temperature so much as the change in amount of moisture that 
can be carried.  Starting with dryer air from outside might help.  But 
I suspect not much.  Anyone know the relevant calculations?
