[Greenbuilding] rainscreen, siding, and yellowjackets

Hello all --
In apropriate areas of my house, I've installed hardipanel siding as
a rainscreen, that is, with a gap between the hardi and the sheathing
to allow any leakage or condensation to evaporate. Now that I'm
about to paint, it occurs to me that this gap between the layers is
prime yellowjacket habitat. I'm thinking of using some windowscreen
fabric to try and prevent them from moving in (at least near my front
door). At the top of the panels, this will be easy -- there is 1x2
trim and I can just pull that off and put the windowscreen under it
-- won't show once I put the trim back. But at the bottom, it's more
difficult. There's no trim, and I think if I try to pull the panels
back a little to get the windowscreen in they will break. Also, the
hardi hangs down an inch or so past the sillplate for aesthetics, so
the possible stapling areas are 'way up
there' :(. Suggestions? Thanks a bundle,
Susannah
