In the course of my continuing quest for green kitchen cabinets, I spoke to
Don Jorgensen of Cabico Cabinets (who acknowledges that Cabico makes a
conventional product, using conventional glues and finishes, and raw and
manufactured materials from conventional sources). He did however mention a
glue that was developed by a Hawaiian scientist that was based on compounds
found in shell fish. This can be potentially manufactured from soy
products. If this is successful, according to Mr Jorgensen, it could
revolutionize the manufacture of formaldehyde free products.
