We installed several soapstone counters and have used them with total 
success, much preferable over the overused granite.  Our material 
came from Linda's area in Virginia.  Different colors are available 
in New England where it is more commonly mined.  Soapstone is the 
material used for lab counters way back when; highly durable.  Sacie Lambertson
